Growing our fullblood herd
Flushing fullblood cows at Dimboola Feedlot.
At Harmony, we are heavily invested in continuing to enhance the breed. Working with cattle reproduction specialists, we have been building our own fullblood and commercial Wagyu herd for some time.
Our fullblood program – through AI and IVF – has now grown to 150 animals and counting. In fact, the first calf from a Harmony-bred fullblood dam (mother) was born in late March.
We’ve also just completed another round of AI at Dimboola with Harmony-bred bulls. We used the expertise of Dom Bayard and his company Global Reproduction Solutions to collect embryos on site. The embryos were then successfully transferred into recipient cows by Shannon Pastorals Dairy.
Our goal is to have one of the leading Wagyu herds in the world outside of Japan. It’s incredibly rewarding to see our genetics program continue to grow and influence breeding outcomes – ensuring the provenance and flavour of our meat is second to none.
