Partnering with Spot On Drones
Here at Harmony, we’re always looking at how we can use data and new technology to improve the way we do things and ensure sustainable production.
One of the ways we’re doing that is using drones – incorporating autonomous and manual flying – to better manage pastures and spread fertiliser in challenging terrain at our Murrindindi Breeding Hub, north-east of Melbourne.
The hub is where we breed and background our fullblood cattle, but with undulating hills, creeks and rivers throughout, many areas are hard to reach.
Working with local company Spot On Drones, we’re able to apply fertiliser, spread seed and spray weeds more precisely, efficiently and cost effectively – even while we’re strip grazing. It’s helping us to get more out of our pastures and minimise environmental impact.
While it’s early days for the adoption of this technology in the Wagyu sector, we’re already seeing the benefits. Our cattle are what they eat, so pasture quality is everything. It’s why we'll always invest in tools that ensure we deliver a premium quality product.
